Songkran celebration at Camillian Home 2016
The Camillian Home for Children Living with Disabilities celebrated the Songkran Festival on the 8th of April. This festival is held at the beginning of the Thai New Year. In the morning, the Home hosted a banquet for the monks to make merit. Those attending this ceremony were blessed by the Head Monk and afterwards various fun activities were organized in the afternoon including the splashing of water and the Goddess contest.
The contest is based on one of the colorful legends of Songkran. 5 pairs were chosen to enter the contest and all were dressed in traditional Thai costumes. As selected by the Board of Directors and committees four pairs remained to contest for the top spot. After further judging, two couples remained: one from the physical therapy room represented by Big and Poo, while the child care staff was represented by Em and Guitar. Our Board of Directors had a difficult job scoring the couples because they were both very adorable. In the end, the prize for the most beautiful couple went to Big and Poo who filled the place with laughter and joy.
On that special we also had a visit from BeRevolution They joined us in our Songkran celebration and also painted with our children. Mr. Luca and Andrea Bonventre are on a trip of their dreams from Italy. They are travelling in a 50 year old classic car to follow their dream and to share the experience with others. That day they came and shared their dream and happiness with our children at Camillian Home.
The weather is still hot, but the Songkran Festival is another way that the people of Thailand use to express their joy and love and give best wishes through the sprinkling of icy water. The Camilllian Home used this opportunity to forward our best greetings to our brothers and sisters and to our generous donors.
บ้านคามิลเลียนของเราร่วมฉลองสงกรานต์ ซึ่งถือเป็นวันขึ้นปีใหม่ของไทย ในวันที่ 8 เมษายนที่ผ่านมา โดยช่วงเช้ามีการจัดทำบุญเลี้ยงพระสงฆ์ เพื่อเป็นการเอาฤกษ์เรียกขวัญกำลังใจให้กับเจ้าหน้าที่บ้านคามิลเลียน ส่วนกิจกรรมความสนุกสนานต่างๆ มีทั้งการจัดประกวดเทพีสงกรานต์ และร่วมเล่นน้ำด้วยกันจะจัดขึ้นในช่วงบ่าย
การประกวดเทพีสงกรานต์ถือเป็นอีกสีสันหนึ่งของวันสงกรานต์ที่ขาดไปไม่ได้นอกเหนือจากการรดน้ำดำหัวผู้ใหญ่ และการเล่นน้ำเพื่ออวยพรซึ่งกันและกัน ทั้งเจ้าหน้าที่และเด็กๆของเราต่างจับคู่กันแต่งกายในชุดไทยเพื่อประชันความงามชนิดที่ไม่มีใครยอมใคร โดยในงานมีการประกวดประมาณ 10 คู่ด้วยกัน ซึ่งเมื่อคัดเลือกโดยคณะกรรมการผู้ทรงคุณวุฒิแล้ว เหลือคู่ที่เข้ารอบชิงเพียง 4 คู่ คือ คู่น้องฟ้าใสกับพี่ไบร์ท นักศึกษาฝึกงานกายภาพบำบัด, คู่น้องบิ๊กกับพี่ปู นักกายภาพบำบัด, คู่น้องกีตาร์กับแม่เอ็ม เจ้าหน้าดูแลเด็ก และน้องลิขิตกับแม่บลัด เจ้าหน้าที่ดูแลเด็ก บอกได้เลยว่าคณะกรรมการของเราตัดสินใจให้คะแนนได้ลำบากมาก เพราะความสวยความน่ารักของทุกคู่นั้นเฉือดเฉือนกันเสียเหลือเกิน แต่สุดท้ายคู่ที่ได้รับรางวัล พร้อมทั้งตำแหน่งเทพีสงกรานต์ไปครองในปีนี้ได้แก่ คู่ของน้องบิ๊กกับพี่ปู ซึ่งแปลงกายเป็นแม่หญิงและท่านชายได้อย่างน่ารักน่าเอ็นดู อีกทั้งยังช่วยสร้างเสียงหัวเราะเติมเต็มความสุขให้กับผู้ร่วมงานได้เป็นอย่างดีทีเดียว
นอกจากความสนุกจากกิจกรรมวันสงกรานต์แล้ว เรายังได้ต้อนรับคุณลูคา และ คุณอังเดร จากโปรเจค บีเรฟโวรูชั่น ที่เดินทางตามความฝันและต้องการแบ่งปันประสบการณ์ให้กับผู้อื่น พวกเขาเดินทางจากประเทศอิตาลี ด้วยรถเต่าคันเล็กที่มีอายุถึง 50 ปี แต่ยังสภาพดีและพร้อมเดินทางมาแบ่งปันพร้อมกับทั้งคน ซึ่งในวันนั้นทั้งสองคนก็ได้มาเยี่ยม ร่วมฉลองวันสงกรานต์กับ และวาดรูปในห้องศิลปะบำบัดร่วมกับน้องๆ บ้านคามิลเลียนฯ
ถึงแม้ว่าอากาศจะร้อนเพียงไหน แต่เทศกาลสงกรานต์ยังคงเป็นอีกหนึ่งเทศกาลดีๆของไทยที่ใช้เป็นโอกาสส่งต่อความสุข ความรักและปรารถนาดีผ่านสายน้ำที่เย็นฉ่ำ บ้านคามิลเลียนของเราจึงขอใช้โอกาสอันดีนี้ส่งต่อคำอวยพรที่ดีรวมทั้งความสุขไปยังพี่ๆผู้บริจาคและผู้ใจบุญทุกท่านนะคะ
