Happy Feet and Dialogue in the Dark
Thank you to our sponsor D nee and Cindy, Byron and Leila Bishop for a wonderful afternoon of fun and joy for our children. With wonder and excitement, they followed the adventures of Eric who,
after having run away from his father, met up with Sven, the flying penguin, and other characters, such as Seals, the elephant, and tiny, little Krill. On leaving the cinema, the kids shared their emotions and dreams of joining the penguins in their icy abode. Another big “thank you” for this kind and generous invitation.
Dialogue in the Dark
We took a group of our blind children to NSM Science Square for an extraordinary and unusual experience. For an hour, those of us who can see found ourselves living what a blind person lives 24 hours a day. With the help of a cane, we navigated our way through several spaces with various obstacles, including a living room, a market, public transport and even a bar. We had to identify objects, plants, fruit and vegetables and other hurdles that lie in the path of a blind person on a daily basis. Ten minutes in complete darkness proved terrifying for those of us with vision. Our blind children, however, were very much at ease and were invaluable guides in leading us through the maze. They took care of us for that one hour and did so happily and willingly. This experience helped us to better understand our kids, their fears and anxieties.
