Travel to and from Thailand
You will need to organize and pay for travel to Bangkok and to Camillian Home. Camillian Home is only 15 minutes away by taxi from Suvarnabhumi airport.
Ensure that you have adequate travel or health insurance; if you should require hospitalization it may be necessary to transfer you to Bangkok.
Volunteers should apply and obtain a type ‘O’, non-immigrant visa at the Thai Embassy or Consulate in your home country prior to arrival in Thailand. To apply for this visa, you will need a letter of recommendation from Camillian Home along with several other documents; requirements differ from country to country. Please check with your local Thai Embassy or Consulate for details.
Select one of the two types of non-immigrant visa which best meet your travel requirements:
- Single entry, 3 month visa or
- Multiple entry, 1 year visa, if you are staying longer
A tourist or travel visa will not be valid due to your work permit.
Please be advised that Camillian Home can assist in obtaining work permits for volunteers who are unable to obtain the type ‘O’ non-immigrant visa (Volunteer Visa) or volunteers who wish to stay for a period of time longer than 3 months. This will require you to pay a one time fee of 10,000 thb to cover the work permit and outsourcing costs. Please understand that Camillian Home is not charging a fee. These funds are to pay outside costs as we are staff limited.
The Thai government wants all visitors to possess means of living expenses at the amount of 10,000 Baht per person. For additional visa information, visit the Thai Ministry of Foreign Affairs website.
